Rapier Open and stuff

I went to Caid Rapier Open yesterday and had a wonderful time but I think I got too much sun or something as I don't feel to hot now. Mostly a headache.

The event was at Library Park where we used to do Home Town Fair. It's a pretty little park right on Main Street and we had a lot of people come by to see what we were doing. I took the time to talk to a number of them. Unfortunately there wasn't an info flyer to hand out but I did my best.

The Baronial pavilion was pretty much up by the time I got there (darn everyone for being there early and being so efficient :) and I was there not long after 8am. I did help with tear down and I helped with the royal lunch. (My kitchen is a mess and I just made a salad. I thought the salad was pretty good too.) The whole lunch thing was a bit confused with who was doing what and for how many. I was told rather different things before hand. I'm glad I brought tablecloths and some table decoration stuff as well as serving pieces for the lunch even though technically I was only bringing a salad and some bread. I brought cookies and butter for the bread as well.

There were 32 fighters in list or so I heard. The winner was Todde MacDonald from Isles fighting Don Alexander Kalidokos 2 out of 3 in the finals. I sat with Marcos and watched the final rounds and we discussed fencing philosophy. And we discussed more with [livejournal.com profile] addie later. Everyone thinks I should get back into fencing. I'm still considering it. I wish I could just skip the learning stage and be adequate at it. I hate the beginning learning curve for something like this.

After the event there was a revel and feast at the Dudley's house which was very fun. The menu was interesting (and mostly not really too my taste) but the chicken was excellent! I met Elisheva's mother and spent awhile talking to her. She was very nice and we had a wonderful chat. I left on the early-ish side. (They were just getting a fire started for a bardic circle sometime after 10 when I left.)

Today I need to start prep work on some stone for pewter casting. I went and bought a new hacksaw (no idea where my old one is. okay......I lied....I know exactly where the old one is but it's in a Scary Cabinet and I didn't want to dig into it cuz I know everything else will fall out and I'd spend most of the day stuffing it back in.)

I don't really feel like doing anything though. I need to take another Advil for this headache.
