Remember that the dust made by cutting/carving soapstone makes a very, very nice pigment when mixed with egg yolk, glair or gum -- a rather lovely sage green.
It's a much better use of it than having it as an eye irritant.
Didn't you have an... incident... last year, when something went into your face, because you weren't wearing eye protection? Please tell me this was a Friendly Reminder™, citing that you're glad you were wearing your eye protection...
Ouch, I hope you are okay! As long as we are giving advice I suggest a breath mask as well. The last time I was cutting some wonderstone I was covered in so much dust I was coughing it up for days.
