Just Another Day....

But a Friday, so that's good right? Except sometimes Friday's are stressful, cuz things are going on over the weekend. This weekend is Kingdom Scriptorium and I've got to get the Scribe database as updated as I can. And then....I'm going to Las Vegas for a few days. To be honest, it's not my destination of choice. It can be fun, but I'd rather ....do almost anything else. I dunno, I didn't get a vote. The Family does what Mom decides, mostly.

Personally, I just don't get into Vegas. Some people go gah-gah, but not me. I'm really not into gambling (which ruins 99% of the point of going), I'm not into big fancy-schmancy hotels, I don't like the heat, and can't breathe in all of the smoke. If it weren't for the hotty-guys in Thunder Down Under, I would be lost!

ROAD TRIP!

I love Vegas. I like the hotels, I like the games (Angelina and I have a system for blackjack; I play, she drink the booze they bring me). I espically like to go with Jamal, because I like craps, which he taught me, and it's fun to work the table together. Angelina and I went up for Collegium of the Desert a few years ago, it was the first time either of us had been there in 15 years and we were amazed at how much we enjoyed it. We actually spent an enjoyable couple of hours trying to figgure out what we'd need to do to move there, but then we had a little nap and came to our sences.

If you can, get to the Venetian. The shopping mall is like a Canaletto painting in three dimensions. (I want to go back when I have a bunch of Italians and take pictures.)

We liked the Star Trek Experience, but were terribly disappointed by the Raktajino at Quark's. (A Klingon coffee drink is NOT a cute little frozen thing with a tiny straw. It's served HOT, and the base should be espresso that's somewhere past Canton-of-Altavia and about up to coup d'etat.)

If you're in a King Tut mood, it's worth it to drop in to the Luxor. Very impressive monumental architecture, and they have a full size replica of Tutankhamen's tomb, which would be particularly interesting to see in conjunction with the exhibit currently at the LACMA.

Under no circumstances should you go to the Excalibur. It will only depress you.

The Mirage has the best sour cream herring I've ever had & the best kosher Sunday buffet in general. We really liked the buffet at the Belagio, too, and the gambling there was more fun than we expected it to be.

We liked the shopping at New York, New York and Paris. We didn't like Ceasar's at all (it really is your father's casino), and Ceasar's Magical Empire is something of a disappointment if you're used to the Magic Castle. (After that, I decided that the best course in pursuing magic shows would be to go to one of the magic shops--there are lots, in Ceasar's and the MGM Grand and who knows where else--and ask the help where the good close-up is this week.)

In any case, don't let yourself be bored. There's plenty of stuff for different interests. Have a good trip!

Are you missing Saul's Birthday? I'm telling.

Ooo....Hotty Guys in Thunder Down under. I tend to agree with most of what you said. But I'll make the best of it.

I've been a few times recently with family, but it's not really my favorite place to go. I'll have to get my dad to give me another lesson in craps. :) Otherwise I'll stick with the slot machines. At least I'll come home with quarters for laundry money. :)

I've been to most of these places except for the Belagio. I hope to make it there this time. The Venetian hands down is my favorite place to go shopping in Vegas. I don't have a favorite gambling place :) I'll see where my Dad and brother wanna go.

We used to stay at Caesar's back in the day. It was my grandfather's casino :) (He knew people and would get rooms comped. The Shriners would go there :) and my grandfather was big in the Westwood Shriners club.)

Back to laundry.
