Car Woes, Day 22

I've gotten letters from the at fault drivers insurance company and information that suggests they want to foist the responsibility for their driver on Hertz because she was driving a rental car. I called and left a message for the insurance guy but he hasn't called me back yet. We shall see.

Game Front: (Geek alert) My poor character in 7th Sea is again unconscious. Okay it probably wasn't wise to go into a combat situation with only 1 hit point left but.....she's been wounded for the last 6 months (I think). In game time it's only been about 4 days. I think I'll stay on the ship for the next session and bring my embroidery with me.

Home Front: I'm still trying to get to the bottom of the inbox. Made a little progress when I got home from the game last night.

Health Front: I get a gold star for yesterday! I walked 30 minutes *and* wrote down everything I ate and stayed within my points. Yay me!! I'm on track today so far. I walked 30 minutes at lunch time and had a salad. I need to write that down and figure out what I will have for dinner tonight.

Work Front: I got the first Arrested Development script of the season done. (What an annoying show, they need to distribute scripts earlier....I can see it's going to be a new battle every week to the get the scripts on time). I've really got to get a lot done today. Yesterday it felt like I was trying to hike uphill through molasses and got next to nothing done.

Um... because the spirit of the rental car went EEEEVIL and suddenly drove to the side of the road? What the hell.... is Hertz renting out cars named "Christine"?

She took out a Hertz insurance policy when she rented the car. I say a plague on all their houses! Let the insurance companies duke it out. I just want my car back and my costs covered.

*bzzt* Play again, insurance company and Hertz. Who ponies up the money to fix your car is irrelevant as far as you are concerned. Fact is, she damaged your car. Whether it's Hertz or insurance Company who makes your damages whole makes no never mind.

"Sue them all and let the judge sort 'em out-- s/he will know who is in the right," to paraphrase a famous bishop from the Albigensian Crusade.

It's ok to sign away your rights to recover damages from the accident by allowing your insurance dudes to fix your car, then your carrier can, in turn, pursue Hertz or Crazy Woman's insurance on their own. This is called subrogation. Just remember-- you have a year from the date of the accident to sic an attorney on them file a lawsuit. Keep the statute of limitations in the back of your mind as time continues to slip away, because your insurance company will want the statute preserved for their benefit if they end up doing good by you out of their own pockets.
