So I went camping in Yosemite.
That's gotta be one of my favorite places on earth. Of course I had the wrong weather report and it was hot. Hotter than June in the park usually is. And it turned out had kind of a fundamental difference of opinion of vacation then my relatives. I wanted to get out and do stuff (especially in the morning when it was cooler) and they wanted to sleep late. Waste of time if you ask me! :) All that sleeping. Consequently we frequently didn't get out of camp until 11 and ended up hiking in the hottest part of the day.
We got up there on Thursday and set up camp and didn't do much else. We camped in Upper Pines campground and it turns out there was a very large church group in the same campground spread out in different camp sites. 300+. Mostly nice people but they had a base camp across from us and many of them kept walking through our camp and the one next to it. Even after their minister told them not to. In fact the people next to us (who got the brunt of the walk-throughs) got so mad they left a day early. We took a little walk after dinner down near the Merced River.
Friday we walked all the way around Mirror Lake (which mostly isn't there anymore). It's been turning into Mirror Meadow for years now. We covered about 6 miles. Everyone but me was having medical issues. Bill got a blister. Terry's knees were bothering her and Bill has having knee problems as well. Jennifer has a foot problem and her boots were totally trashed so she had to borrow an extra pair from Terry. I was fine!
