Well I'm safe now....okay safer.  it's a long story though.

With a capital T and that rhymes with Z and it stands for Zombies!

Man......I should have listened to Thomas.  He was always trying to get me to go shooting with him and to think about getting my own gun but I never did.

It's a mass riot in Century City.  I can see people from the windows of the 14th floor, running and being chased by zombies.  They've locked down my building, but I think it's only a matter of time before the building gets over run.  There's already a few inside and there's just glass doors between us and ta really large horde of them.  I think we have some time though, the hordes seem to be concentrated more towards the mall and the CAA buildings.  Agents must make good eating.   We just have to deal with the few that are inside the building.

I found my King of the Hill swiss army knife but I don't think a 2 and 1/2 inch blade is going to do me a lot of good.  It does have some other tools on it though.  I'm switching shoes to the tennies I keep here in the office.

We've already lost one of the attorneys.  She got tried of all the noise from the stairwell and opened the door to look.  She was pulled in and they started munching on her.  Marc and I just barely got the door closed again.  We've piled things in front of the door, but the few zombies in the stairwell sound like they've moved on to other floors.

I have a plan but I'm going to need some help with it.  If I can I'll post more later.

Good luck to you all!

Worry!

Something is going on!  There's lot of people missing from the office but I'm starting to hear a lot of noise from the stairwell.  (I sit right next to it).  Feet stomping and shouting and I'm not crazy about the idea of opening the door to figure out what is going on.

Oh!  There was just a security announcement over the intercom.  They said (in the usualy scratchy "we can barely hear it" intercom mode) that they are investigating a disturbance on the third floor and everyone should stay where they are.  (Yeah....famous last words).

Sitting tight.

Late!

I totally woke up late this morning.    I didn't have time to read LJ or even turn on the news as I usually do and I didn't get up in time to take a walk either.  I'll try and walk at lunch time I guess.  Weird....even though I'm late, there's only a few of us in the office. I wonder if traffic is bad?  My commute wasn't bad but I swear I saw like 4 or 5 car accidents this morning *and* the cops trying to arrest some guy.

I saw one of my neighbors, Rob, before I left his morning.  I think he's a freelance writer or something.  He usually holes up in his condo and I only see him once every few months.  He was acting all strange and asked me if I saw the comet last night.  Comet?!?  Darn, no, I totally missed it.

Okay....I'm gonna get some work done.

We made it up to Bakersfield....things were really tense for a while. We saw a highway patrolman who had turned. Fortunately, we fell in with a couple of guys in a black classic Impala and they blew the zombie chippy away. They lead the way in their car up the rest of the way up the grapevine. My Bakersfield family is all fine and we're packing up their SUV and we'll take both cars up to Yosemite. I'm afraid I'm going to have to go radio silent after this.

Good luck to us all!

I picked up Jen and we packed her stuff into my car. And she had food and water that we packed in as well. And she has a gun. I'm not sure where she got it....she didn't want to talk about it at all. So, she's riding shotgun and I'm driving. The plan is still to make it up to Bakersfield, get my sister and her family and then head up into the mountains. But it's a total mess out here. Traffic just sucks. Oh wait...that's pretty normal.

Actually I think we made it out just in time. The radio reports that the police are trying to get everyone off the streets. And the highway patrol have closed the freeway behind us. They want everyone to go home.

I ran one of them down with my car and kept wishing had a much bigger SUV. We stopped after awhile to clean off the windshield. I never thought anything like this could ever happen.....

Oh man! If it wasn't for [livejournal.com profile] sasha_khan's lj, I wouldn't have known anything was going on! I mean you'd think in a city the size of LA, that people turning into zombies would, you know, get on the news! I thought those people just hadn't made it to Starbucks yet!

My car is packed with camping gear, though not as much as if I'd really known this would happen, but all the food and the rest is up with Terry and Bill in Bakersfield. I'm calling Jen, and then going to pick her up and get out of town fast! Fortunately I've got a full tank of gas and ideas on other ways (other then the freeway) to leave LA.

I guess it's too late to get Thomas to teach me to shoot a gun. Jen knows how though and Bill has several. We just need to make it to Bakersfield alive.
