Sunday Morning
Jul. 3rd, 2005 08:49 amYesterday was CP Prize Tourney, the annual fund raiser for the Crown Prints, newsletter of Caid. The amount raised was an amazing $10,000 which funds the best (as far as I'm concerned) newsletter in the SCA. As far as I can tell, it's the only newsletter left with an 8-1/2 by 11 format, all the rest are half folio and completely event announcements with little other content. The generosity of the people of Caid is astonishing.
I sat with the weavers and spinners as they did the Sheep to Shawl shawl. :) It was amazing to see that come together from wool to finished yarn to finished shawl.
One of the other cool things was Graf Gerhart who is pretty darn cool all the time, but he did a presentation at court that had us all rolling on the floor. I know he's a nice guy, but I didn't realize he was that funny also. Anyway he was selling pewter pilgrim badges that he had made (also one that Una carved) that are gorgeous. I bought several. I need to work on my pewter casting. I have the idea, but I haven't done a final drawing and I haven't started carving yet. I need to prep the piece of wonder stone I have. (Cut it in half lengthwise I think, as long as I have at least a 1/2 inch on both sides. I need to examine the mold that I have that Gerhart did for the scribe tokens).
The plan for the day is cleaning, and more importantly to get a bunch of stuff ready to go to Goodwill. I don't need 30 t-shirts and 12 pairs of jeans (most of which don't fit right now). I also need to put together a raffle basket (or two) for Lyondemere Anniversary.
And I want to do at least some embroidery.
