One Official Sucky Day
Jul. 24th, 2005 04:43 pmThat was yesterday.
It was supposed to be a fun day. Lyondemere Anniversary tournament in the morning then head off early to a birthday party for my dad who turned 85. Well, it started out okay....got to the event early, helped put up the Baronial pavilion and was helping to put up the fighting field ropes when everyone heard the whomp crash that signals a car accident of some kind. I didn't go over because it looked like there were people on the scene (that know how to handle such things) and the accident site looked to be a distance from where my car was parked on the street.
I was wrong. My car was hit first, sideswiped on the street, then the woman driver crashed her car into Berengere's which hit the car parked in front of her. Fortunately, no one was seriously hurt though Berengere and her husband were taken to the hospital (and her little baby and daughter were okay). The fire department game out, and the police and took statements and a report and all that. I understand that Beresgere's Laureling ceremony took place at Closing court and was well received.
I had my car towed to an auto body place in El Segundo relatively close to home. I get to deal with the insurance company tomorrow (I am so looking forward to that.....not). And I'll have to rent a car at some point.
The birthday party for day went well, maybe to make up for the official sucky-dom of the day. And today we had breakfast at the beach and all that.
Blah.
