I sure hope so.

It's a new week and that's always a promise of a fresh start.

This past weekend was Collegium Caidis which has always been one of my favorite events. It was held in Lyondemere at a site that is pretty close for me. I took four classes and enjoyed them, especially Eowyn's Elizabethan Metal Thread embroidery class where I think I'm finally understanding that dratted plaited braid stitch. (If I'm smart, which is doubtful, I'll take some stitchery stuff to GWW and practice it). I also took Elizabethan Commonplaces with Giles and Maggie Ros. They are a riot and have tons of info, but the class could have been a little more focused, but then again, I got most of my questions answered and it doesn't get better than that. The chip carving class was interesting but do I really need another hobby? The fourth class I really wanted to take was canceled so I took Arianna's German costume class instead. It didn't cover as late period as I hoped, but getting to see some of Arianna's costumes up close was interesting and useful.

Sunday was the Scriptorium which was a success. Not as many people as I would have liked, but I really do think we got a lot done. (Especially me as I talked to Luigseach and Brianna and Eowyn and Giuseppe and have some ideas and plans for the future.)

When I got home I was tired but tried to pick up the house a little, so the kitchen is in better shape and the living room is also pretty good. I'm caught up on mail (except for a couple of things). The bathroom is clean and I did find a spot of floor in the bedroom.

If you read this far, let me know. :) Am I totally boring the pants off everyone? Does anyone care? Would you rather hear about TV shows? I know I have a fair number of people on my friend list and I do (mostly) comment on a lot of them, but I don't seem to get a lot of comments in return. Makes me curious.

LJ Interests meme results

  1. blackwork:
A style of embroidery used in the Elizabethan era to decorate things. I want to explore more styles than the basic ones and use them to decorate clothing and stuff.
  2. calligraphy:
The art of writing. I'm a poor calligrapher but as I do scrolls in the SCA it's handy to be able to do my own.
  3. city of villains:
A new massive multi player computer game by the same folks who did City of Heroes. I look forward to bein a bad guy. Take that!
  4. costuming:
The prequisite to play in the SCA: You have to some kind of medieval or renaissance clothing. I hate sewing, I'm a poor costumer, but I do like new clothes.
  5. elizabethan:
The study of the period of time Elizabeth I was Queen of England. My primary interest in the SCA. I've been interested in it for a long time, but just in the last few years, I'd decided to really settle now and focus and do some research! (I much better at buying books than studying them)
  6. gaming:
The art of play? Specifically gaming for me is mostly role-play games. I'm in a regular gaming group and one semi-sometimes group. I get a kick out of it.
  7. illumination:
The art of decorating manuscripts? For me this is primarily drawing and painting SCA award scrolls. It's a fabulous creative outlet though I've spent a lot more time working on the administrative side of this and not the creative side.
  8. prison break:
A television show. One of many I work on. But the scripts have some very sharp writing.
  9. role-playing:
Pretty much the same as gaming above. It would be interesting to do a little more of this in the SCA.
  10. serenity:
A movie I'm very much looking forward to seeing. Especially as I worked on Firefly.
