What a Weekend!

This weekend was one of those double packed, no rest at all, weekends.
Friday night I was still finishing up scrolls for Lyondemere Anniversary and trying to get stuff packed up for Saturday. I kinda failed on the last and got up in the morning to finish and was later on site then I planned. By the time I got on site the Baronial pavilion was all set up (and the army of chairs was out. :) I felt chagrined.
I was in a fog most of the day. I think I was just exhausted. (Not trying to pat myself on the back or anything, but I think I spent the last 3 weeks doing nothing but work on Anniversary stuff.) A few people liked the site tokens. I got a big kick out of Thomas and Angelina signing the award scrolls. I think they weren't looking very carefully and I could have had them sign the deed to Lyondemere and they never would have noticed. :)
I got to be Herald to The Excellencies, Colin and Xena, 2nd Baron and Baroness of Lyondemere, processing into Court. That was fun (even though I worried over what to say and made Bruce coach me :) I'd never done that before. It was very cool to have so many former Baron and Baronesses at the event. And a ton of old-time Lyondemarines. A lot of people who played when I first started came out to visit and to enjoy the event.
I got two of the bestest things ever at opening court. I got a wax tablet for being Thomas's Chamberlain! I've always wanted one and it's mega cool. I'm off his staff now (I guess he thought I needed a break. I don't think I did a great job as Chamberlain. I dropped a few too many balls but I'm glad to have had the experience.) The other bestest thing ever was, I got one of the first Sandpipers, the new Baronial Arts award. I'm really pleased and jazzed about that. Jon Thomme did a wonderful medallion for the award. (And I did the scroll for it. :) which I still need to add my name to :)
The rest of the day I was tired and had a headache and didn't drink enough water. I tried to take a few pictures. I had a few interesting conversations with people, but kept getting distracted or something and didn't get to finish. We tried to have a little scriptorium but it was too windy and the pop-up we were using was going to blow over. I have to remember that generally it gets too windy at Calle Mayor to do a scriptorium outdoors.
I enjoyed the banquet. It thought the food was good and it was just the right amount for an after event dinner. It wasn't 42 hours long and so many course of food that you can't move afterward. It think it was just the right amount of dishes. If there was one thing I'd suggest, it would be to try and have the rice and chicken dishes be served at the same time. I thought the servers and cooks did a fabulous job.
The last part of the evening was the dancing. Okay, I was really nervous about that. I didn't review the dances nearly as much as I should have but it all worked out. I love the Unusual Consort. All the tempos for the dances were spot on and everyone seemed to be having a good time. I can't thank the musicians enough. It makes such a difference to have live music. A number of the dancers were experienced (a big group from Isles that dance regularly I think), so there was none of the epic dance smash-ups that sometimes occur. I think there were about 30 dancers for the Caidan Measure and then 20 or so for the start of the country dances. The number dwindled as the evening progresses and people went home, but it was a success. Eichling wanted to do Posties Jig and I'll see if we can do that next time. We stopped at quarter to 10 which worked out okay. Everyone was beat.
I stayed a bit to help clean up.
