Yesterday was Lyondemere Anniversary and the change of Baron and Baroness from Jamal and Eowyn to Thomas and Angelina. It was the culmination of a lot of hard work by and on behalf of the outgoing and incoming Baronial personages.

I think one of the coolest things about the SCA is the opportunity to get to know people better and on different levels. When Gerhart and Una first moved to Lyondemere, I didn't really know them well and when they won Crown I did something I had never done before. I asked if I could serve on their Court. I'm glad I did because it gave me this wonderful opportunity to get to know them better.

I've known Eowyn and Jamal and also Thomas and Angelina for a long time, but getting to know them in the capacity of the job of Baron and Baroness gives more opportunities to work with them and to get to know them better. I thoroughly enjoyed Jamal and Eowyn's time as Baron and Baroness and I'm very much looking forward to Thomas and Angelina's time. I'm glad that we can have a change over of this office where it's all good and not traumatic.

Anyway.....it was hot and muggy but a breeze did come up in the afternoon which kept us all from dying. I did Chief Lady In Waiting stuff in the morning and sat around and was totally lazy the rest of the day. I lost the first round of the Backgammon tournament, winning one of three games with Raphael. (Note to self......find some books on backgammon tactics.) I stayed for the banquet (first time in a long time) and stayed almost to the end. I enjoyed the feast (though there were a couple of things on the menu not really to my taste.) The meat roll-ups were excellent and my favorite thing, though I did have seconds on the pasta dish (and would have had more if not for fear of the calories :). Most everyone else at my table thought the meatballs were the best item. It was fun. There was entertainment by some of the talented of the Kingdom including a reading by Giles and Finnella.

What else. I sat with the Crimson Spade cuz I thought the Baronial pavilion would be crowed and Lanternskeep as well but I did go visiting. I totally missed getting down to the merchants! I'm dreadfully annoyed with myself for that lapse.

Oh totally forgot! There was a SPECTACULAR lightning storm south of the park. (I think it was south) and we stood outside for a while watching it! I *love* lightning.

Anyone it was a good (if tiring event), I saw lots of friends, old and new, and enjoyed myself.

Today, I think I'm going to take it easy. Do some cleaning and some CoH and pretty much that's it. I have a fan under my computer desk that I have my bare feet on. It's the coolest place in the house right now. I thought about going to the fighting practice/gathering but I really think getting some small amount of cleaning done is more important.

I walked 42 minutes this morning, though a little slowly. I found a good 40 minute walk route that has only one loop. I weighed myself this morning and I seem to be down another pound! I'm *so* glad I did *not* eat cupcakes and frosting at the tourney yesterday. Go me!!!

Sounds like a good time! I don't know Thomas very well, even if it's the one I'm thinking of, but huzzahs for Angelina. She'll be a great baroness. :-)

Sounds like anniversary was good in spite of the weather--I'm sorry I had to miss, but after the car dying on me Friday....

Sorry you didn't care for all the courses. I hope you did find some that you really liked. Maybe the others would be better with salad dressing all over them... or was that all over you? I can't remember. :-) Snork!

Running off to duck n' cover now. Hugs,

Hey! I did say I loved the meatrolls! Those were just wonderful. I actually liked most of it, just the one thing served first (which you said was weird) was not my favorite thing. :) Silly chef! Someday I'd love to work in your kitchen. I haven't done that in a long time. I'm not a cook, but I follow directions pretty well. :)

Ah... the pea tart. Yep, I had the feeling that would be the one that people either loved or hated. There are not a tremendous amount of really cool vegetarian dishes from history, so whenever I find one, I like to try it. But, in any case, even if people don't care for it, I do what I can to make sure they soooo don't starve. You didn't starve, right? :-)

As for my kitchen, it would be fun workin' with you! Of course, when would we get anything done? We'd be giggling the whole time.

I did not starve. :) And I would have seconds of everything but the pea (?) tart if I wasn't trying to limit calories. (I did have seconds of the pasta :) and I do appreciate the opportunity to sample real authentic dishes. Really. :)

Naw....I know how to buckle down and work. Let me know next time you are in charge of a kitchen. It would be fun.
