Distracted

aliskyeI'm all kinds of distracted today. There are more and more fires burning all over southern california and I'm distressed for friends and strangers alike. I think it would be one of the worst possible things to lose everything in a fire and here are so many people going through it right now.
If it wasn't for the fires (and few other things) it would have been a pretty good weekend. I had some computer issues at the top of the weekend (my desk top machine is still broken) but I mostly resolved those and now have a backup ISP which even though it's stupid to pay for two, I'm going to keep because I hate when the service is down even for a few hours. I did some cleaning on Saturday and watched the football game and transferred the design for a scroll on to the good paper. I practiced the calligraphy and mostly have all the space issues plotted out. I went out for sushi with my best friend and we have a great time. She's got a new job that she's happy with and is a new challenge for her. We have plans to get together more often now that she won't be commuting 10 hours a week. Yay.
Sunday I went to the Getty with Willa, a new SCA member and she's just fascinating. It turns out we are the same age, but she's had way more adventures then I have. In the afternoon we went to the Curia in the park. There were some interesting newcomer questions (how do things work), and then I had sent in a few questions, but then there were some really difficult questions that I don't think the Baron and Baroness had had a chance to review before hand. I think it would have been better for all, if they had been able to prepare for those.
It makes me sad that not everyone is happy in the SCA. I've gotten so much out of it over the years, and I really love my big extended family and all experiences the SCA has afforded. I wish I knew how to make other people's experiences better.
