Yesterday, today and the day before

Monday I did a ton of work, stayed late and everything. So Tuesday I didn't feel bad that I left work early (about 6:20) and I'd gotten a lot done on Tuesday as well. I was supposed to go and meet a new SCA member for dinner not far from where I live in Culver City. But the city was totally paralyzed traffic-wise because a crane fell over on the freeway hours and hours earlier. It took me an hour and half to get home, a ride that generally takes 25-35 minutes. It was just insane. I called my mom and asked her to go look for the newcomer at the restaurant, but it was already too late, then I called Eilidh who managed to get the newcomers phone number for me so I could call her and let her know what had happened. What a horrible impression to make on a new member, standing them up. *sigh* She was very understanding, but still. I did a little work on the scroll when I finally got home.
Wednesday was Halloween, so I did a Hogwarts Adult School costume for work. I was one of only 3-4 people on our floor who dressed up. Very sad. My department had a little party (with *party games* *rolls eyes). One of the attorneys (it would be nice if she spent more time on her work, then planning parties) divided us up into teams and we had 10 minutes to create a pirate costume out of stuff she gave us (plastic bag, aluminum foil, paper, some printed material.) If my team had listened to me, we would have won, but they didn't. Silly people. Then we played pictionary, with clues of Halloween stuff (horror movies and things). My team sucked and two of the attorneys almost had a fight (okay not really, but I would have paid money to see that). We finally pulled out a win in a speed round at the end. That night I got more done on the scroll, but it is sloooooow-going.
I'm getting stuff done today, but it's just weird at work. Negotiations between the producers and WGA have broken down and the WGA is working (today) without a contract. They have a meeting tonight to decide what their next move is. Which is likely to strike. The studio is gearing up for a strike, but today it's quiet. The calm before the storm. I have revisions on several scripts to read and a couple of scripts to handle, that will start shooting in a couple of weeks (provided there isn't a work stoppage. Waiting for the other shoe to drop.
