Jason scroll in progress, originally uploaded by alizkye.

I'm testing a new Flickr account. This is the scroll I'm currently working on which is almost all painted. I have to finish the pen work around the E and I in the King and Queen's names and outilne everything in black. And add the signature lines and mark the seal locations. I hope to finish it on Saturday.

Really nice scroll work - but a question. An Award of Arms gets a crown of four points above the armory? This might be IKA - please let me know!

In Caid that's the achievement an Award of Arms gets. A Grant of Arms gets a helm and manteling and a Patent of Arms gets a helm, manteling, supporters and can have a crest.

The achievements are explained on the Caid Scribes page

http://scribes.sca-caid.org/

in the section for each award.

I think it's pretty neat but I'm sure it's different in each Kingdom. :)

It's lovely. The leaves are especially cool.

How long has it taken you thus far? Scrolls fascinate me. An incredible amount of work goes into them.

FWIW, the West doesn't do crown stuff on award scrolls. Well, maybe on the counts and dukes sort of things, but usually it's just the armory. (And, since I'm so very inactive, I may be very wrong, but that's how it was way back when.)

Actually, the West did have a crown as achievement for AAs long ago -- that's where Caid got it from (says one who copied it).

Aliskye- great leaves! Lovely scroll!

I started with the design already done because this is a companion piece to a scroll I did a few years ago. I think so far it's taken about 25 hours or so. I wasn't keeping track very well.

I think it's cool that all Caidan scrolls have an achievement that goes with them. The West Kingdom does also, but it looks like only for Grants and above.

Thanks! I'm mostly happy with it. :)

Hmm, I'm looking at my grant scroll hanging over my desk and it has my arms balanced over the picture. Neither my laurel nor my pelican, both of which were done for me over a decade ago, have crowny sorts of things. Well, my pel does have a cap of maintenance. I just got the scroll for the grant a few months ago. *shrugs* Maybe my viscounty will, assuming that ever gets done. It's old enough to drink legally ;).

Anyway, v. cool!

That's a bummer. Having the full achievement especially for peerage scrolls is what makes them special. (On the other hand, the West is doing a better job than we are at getting scrolls done. Maybe you can check to see if your Viscounty scroll is on the list to be done.)

He is going to =love= this scroll. You know he's an old fashioned industrial artist and this has a lot of the kind of details he admires.

I didn't know that. But he did help me carry my stuff to the car at Queen's Champion when it started to rain. He carried my portfolio which had the scroll in it. :)

LOL. I just noticed that a couple of the acanthus leaves are wrong. I doubt anyone will notice (or care) but I need to change the master layout. :)
