Where were you when the lights went out? I was sitting in my cube at work (Fox Plaza, Century City) talking on the phone to Yale University when the power went out. Earlier there had been an announcement there the elevators weren't working because of an electrical problem so I figured there was a connection. But people started phoning other people (the phones still worked as long as one wasn't using a headset) and found out the problem is city wide.

I've decided I am woefully unprepared for an emergency. I finally found my flashlight, but the batteries were dead. I found my transistor radio, but it doesn't have an antenna and so all I got was static. (It was a present from a show I worked on...heh). I do have about 5 t-shirts (presents from various shows, some sweatpants and a pair of tennis shoes). I'm making a list of things I ought to have here.

In other news, I worked on my shift over the weekend. It's too big but not dreadfully so. The shoulder/arm seams are part way down my arms which is annoying but I still need to put a collar on and it will be interesting to see if that draws it up any.

Okay.....back to work.....of which there is ton.
So I got home tonight with 4 messages on my voice mail at home (which is a lot) and all of them wrong numbers.....from the same person. Apparently my home phone number is close to a rental car place. But the message on my voice mail is something like this "Hi this is Laurie, I can't take your call right now so please leave a message" which doesn't sound at all like a business particularly a car rental business. Does it? I'd think that after hearing my message four times and not getting a call back that one might think they have a wrong number. In fact the last message left for me was "Laurie.....please call me at......." Clueless people shouldn't be allowed access to phones.
