Sicko!

Nov. 26th, 2007 01:27 pm
I decided not to subject my office to my cough and vice versa. I've been checking email from home and there is nothing major going on. I will go to bed early tonight! And probably will take a nap later.

In the meantime, the house is a bit more picked up than it was been in a while. (Which isn't to say it's clean, but...there are some portions that are less cluttered then others.)

I did spend some time handsewing seams on a linen shift and I'm almost half-way done on that part of the process. (Yes, I am the world's slowest sewer.)

Best of all, I'm almost done with the layout for a Luttrell Psalter type scroll, designed for a generic Award of Arms. I'm pretty happy with it. It's set up so it can be customized for the recipient. I'm inking my master copy now and then will transfer the design to some bristol board. I plan to do several to give to Medb for scriptorium. And also have some to do for a local scriptorium.

So, I wanted to do the layout for an easy to paint scroll appropriate for an Award of Arms that can be customized. I've never done anything based on the Luttrell Psalter before, but it's an awfully fun manuscript. So here it is. There are a few extra lines marking out borders that won't be transferred to the final paper (except to show the calligrapher the boundaries). The space between the seals and on top of the leaves that stick out can have drolleries or motifs that will be customized for each scroll.

Now I just need to copy some on good paper and turn them over to Medb for calligraphy.
