Sewing....how I loathe you.

Let me count the ways.
I love having new clothes (i.e. SCA costumes). I really hate sewing. I'm not good at it. The stuff never ever comes out like I want but you can't buy this stuff in the stores and I can't really afford to have it all custom done.
I'm almost finished with a pair of sleeves, several broken pins and one broken needle later.
Time....ticking.

This is why when I sit down to the machine I just blaze through it... mostly... to get it done as quickly as possible. Unless I have good company, and then I can work on my Amazingly Excellent Avoidance Skillstm.
Should I tell you how I really feel now?

Date: 2009-03-12 01:01 pm (UTC)I definitely like decorating stuff - sewing trim, beading, jeweling. I appreciate the importance of finishing edges and seams and hems, but on the kind of stuff we make, those hems seem to go on FOREVER. I like doing hats, collars 'n cuffs, little stuff. That way I have global control over an inanimate object and the joy of (relatively) instant gratification.
