Let me count the ways.

I love having new clothes (i.e. SCA costumes).  I really hate sewing.  I'm not good at it.  The stuff never ever comes out like I want but you can't buy this stuff in the stores and I can't really afford to have it all custom done.

I'm almost finished with a pair of sleeves, several broken pins and one broken needle later.

Time....ticking.

Sometimes I hate sewing, too. It took a lot of plugging away at it until I finally got what I liked, got better, and am now enjoying making stuff on a more regular basis. Keep going, you can make it!

I like the designing. I loathe the cutting. I hate sitting over the machine. I strongly dislike doing the finicky finishing bits. Love embellishment and decoration, and finding jewelry and accessories and fiddly bits. Love wearing it.

...What?

This is why when I sit down to the machine I just blaze through it... mostly... to get it done as quickly as possible. Unless I have good company, and then I can work on my Amazingly Excellent Avoidance Skillstm.

Should I tell you how I really feel now?

Truth be told, I kind of hate sewing too. Seriously, I like the stuff I get to have when I am finished but the actual sewing, however easy for me... blech.

I actually like sewing although I suspect I like the idea of sewing, or the wishful thinking that I might someday be able to sew like the people I admire can sew. I will never forget watching Louise of Woodsholme throw a piece of paper on the floor, mark it up, put it on fabric and voila! a perfectly fitted garment! It was scary (in a good way)

I definitely like decorating stuff - sewing trim, beading, jeweling. I appreciate the importance of finishing edges and seams and hems, but on the kind of stuff we make, those hems seem to go on FOREVER. I like doing hats, collars 'n cuffs, little stuff. That way I have global control over an inanimate object and the joy of (relatively) instant gratification.
