I had a great time at GWW.
I love the new site with all the grass. I found myself walking around in camp sans shoes and I almost never do that. But the grass was cool and pleasant and it got warm a couple of days.
I camped with Lanternskeep who were right next to Lyondemere and across the road from White Star which was next to Crimson Spade, so it was a big collection of my friends close together. It was great fun to just walk across the road to visit (and to party :)
The extended weekend just zoomed past and I didn't get to go everything I planned on. I arrived around 12:30 on Thursday. I shared a pavilion with Medb (Yay!) and got to move right in cuz she got there on Wednesday. It was perfect for two people. I brought some rugs to help decorate and between her stuff and mine it looked pretty spiff. I worked a gate shift that night. (It was a long and lonely walk to the gate.)
I took Medb's knitting class on Friday which was awesome. She's showed me a little bit at demo's and events but having it all laid out in class was excellent. I want to make a hat now (but I have about a zillion projects and I need to learn to focus!!!)
I managed (despite the exploding glue bottle) to put together the little inkle loom I bought recently. It's adorable, but I didn't get it warped up like I'd hoped. I never touched by embroidery either. (Bummer). I did end up helping with the promissory scrolls for court. Painting some of them to spruce them up. We took over tables at the Inn of the Crimson Spade (at my suggestion :) and that worked out very well. They have nice sturdy tables (and most of the regulars were out on the battlefield).
Morgan's cooking was excellent, but I wish there had been a few fresh vegetables (especially at lunch time). Next time I'll have to remember to bring a bag of carrots and celery. I brought a bottle of rum (don't ask) but did most of my drinking (not much :) over at the Crimson Spade.
Court was very cool. Arabella's horseback procession to get her Pelican was awesome and I was totally jazzed to see Colwyn's White Scarf ceremony as well as seeing Edric's presentation to the retiring Baroness of Nordwache. (That man has incredible presence. We are fortunate to have him and Faizeh returning to the throne. Ithuna also has a wonderful warm nature and has done a fabulous job.
I did a little shopping (but not as much as I planned, got to see Deja's apprentice ceremony, visited with Cat over at St. George, missed the Pas, missed the card-weaving class, got to make a glass bead, forgot (again) to visit Bart and Theresa and meet Clara, though I did get to talk to them both briefly. There was not enough time to do everything I wanted, but I was ready to go home by Sunday afternoon.
