Break time
Jun. 24th, 2006 11:55 amI'm still in NYC. I broke away from the pack today to go over to the Morgan Library. It was totally worth it. It was raining lightly when I left so I decided to just walk (I had an umbrella borrowed from my mom.) It was fun just walking down the streets of NY especially after getting away from some of the concentrated tourist areas. It started to rain a little heavier when I reached the Library. The Morgan has a room of ancient seals which is interesting and some Byzantine artifacts which are lovely. One can also go into Morgan's library and study (which has an illuminated manuscript on display). Both rooms are awesome and I could live in either one. Then they have about 12 illuminated manuscripts and some loose leaves on display including the Hours of Anne of Cleves and a Gutenberg bible. They also have the Sforza Tarot cards (and that was way cool to see). I spent a good couple of hours.
When I left I discovered that my umbrella had broken, but I intrepidly set off, knowing that umbrella salesmen are on nearly every other corner. I found one within two blocks and bought a five dollar umbrella.
I'm heading home tomorrow.
I wonder if I can get over to the Met before they close?
