Long Weekend, still catching up

I am tired and sleepy and have a headache and want to go home. Oh....that's really whiny.
Anyway, this past weekend was Coronation and Queen's Champion Tourney and apparently Coronation (and some recent past events) was Controversial. Who knew? I didn't. I really managed to avoid controversy.
Highlights. I got to Coronation sometime after 8 am and helped set up the gate cuz the site tokens were not yet strung and that was my responsibility. So I asked a couple of people to help and am delighted to report that people just came over and volunteered. I think there were at least eight people helping to string the tokens. That makes me feel good.
I missed most of final court (and now I can't remember quite what I was doing). I helped a tiny bit with the scrolls and went to Aldgytha's vigil and talked to Kyrieth and Thomas. I guess all that took longer than I thought. I got to process in with Aldgytha which was fun (though I do not know her as well as I would like). I saw Giacomo's elevation which was awesome.
The tremendous applause that Swen and Kolfinna received when announced as your undoubted King and Queen was amazing, the loudest and most sustained I've heard in many a long year. I got to kneel right on one of the cushions in front of Kolfinna when the Pelican's swore fealty. (Thank you, Laurels!!!!!) Wow....what a difference that makes to cranky old knees. :)
I helped a little with setting dishes for the head table and then went on home and was in bed by 9pm.
Queen's Champion was fun, though the heat got to me and not a few other people. Opening court was a hoot. First Baron Jamal had to vamp for time while we waited for his Highness of Cynagua and he had cookies passed around, then he called for Eilidh, his Lion Bard and turned things over to her. She was *amazing* as she told a story to the crowd and kept us all captivated, without any prep time at all.
I had a chance to talk to some people I haven't seen for a while, Martin and Moirin and Finella and Elspeth and Husam. And some that I see all the time, Diego and Raphael. I took care of a few business things. I sat in the Lyondemere pavilion for a while and listen to Eilidh and Thomas jam, which was really nice. At the end of the day, I was very happy to go home.
