The scroll is done! Yay!
It's okay. There are parts I like and parts that could have been done much better. But...it's done.
I'm in the planning stages for the next one (which should be easy from a design pov as it will be a heraldic document style and I have a pretty good idea what it will look like.). After that (or concurrently) I'm doing some design on a Celtic style piece (and I've figured out how I want to do it) and then doing some mode book Lutrell style pages.
I walked 2 miles this morning and cleaned the house a little bit.

The calligraphy is nice and even, which is great. Next time squish your words together a bit more and it will be even better.
In short, spiffo!

Date: 2007-11-18 08:29 pm (UTC)I think it looks absolutely lovely, and I agree that the emblazon is spot-on (though I did 'cheat' and look at the original paperwork since I have that available). It's an exact match, actually - the stag's head is better done in this version, though! Good Job!

Date: 2007-11-24 11:37 pm (UTC)Yup it's all done by hand, both the writing and the artwork, though the motifs for the art is mostly from the Gottingen Model Book which is 16th Century art book. The piece is an award scroll for a local member of the SCA. I'm working on my next piece right now.
